Missoulian, Thursday, November 27, 2003 B3 MONTANA OBITUARIES Pauline E. Rebich Harold MISSOULA Pauline Enda Chaffee Rebich, 72, died Monday, Nov. 24, at St. Patrick Hospital after a brief illness. Pauline was born Aug.

17, 1931, in Butte to Patrick and Lillian Sullivan. She was the oldest of five children. After graduating from Butte Girls' Central and Butte Business College, she worked for Fuller Paints. She met her husband of 51 Rebich years, Carl Rebich Rebich, on a blind date: a hayride at the "Reservoir." Carl and Pauline were married June 14, 1952. Together they raised six children.

They moved to Missoula in 1963. After all of the children were in Farm school, Pauline worked for State Insurance and she was a member of Insurance Women of Missoula. Pauline was a longtime member of St. Anthony Parish and Altar Society. She was the neighborhood chair for many charity drives.

Pauline and Carl traveled extensively and are huge Griz fans. They even followed the team to Japan, Georgia Southern, Hofstra and Maine. Pauline and Carl's marriage was an inspiration to their children and many others. Pauline was a wonderful role model; treating all with love, respect and dignity. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara Teixeira; and son, Mike.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl; her children, Kathy (David) Munson of Billings, granddaughters, Courtney and Rachel, and grandson, Adam, Barb (Jerry) Jette of Billings and grandsons, Ryan and Brett, Pat (Anita) Rebich of Atascadero, Sheila (Dean) Seifert of Miles City, Marty (Phanh) Rebich of Beaverton, and granddaughters, Olivia and Breanna. She is also survived by her brothers, Lou (Hazel) Sullivan, Mike (Dee) Sullivan and Ray Sullivan; brother-in-law, Elmer (Irene) Rebich; and her special cousin, Helen Marie Lavelle; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the physicians, nurses and all staff in the Special Care Unit at St. Patrick Hospital. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 27, at St. Anthony Parish. A memorial celebration of Pauline's life will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 28, at St.

Anthony Parish. A luncheon reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for the new St. Anthony Parish Hall, 217 Tremont St. or a charity of your choice.

Services are under the care and direction of Garden City Funeral Harold Jensen THOMPSON FALLS Harold Jensen, 97, of Thompson Falls, died of natural Clark Fork Valley Nursing Home in Plains. He was born May 18, 1906, to Nels and Anna Jensen of Waukegan, Ill. At age 15, he was employed in factory work. At 17, he joined the Carpenters Union and was a member for 55 years. He married Helen Nelson of Racine, Wis.

In 1933, they moved to Superior. He and his brother, Arthur, then purchased the Bellevue Hotel and also started a 38-year career in show business under the name of Jensen Bros. Inc. He was a member of Montana Association of Theater Owners, operating the Rex Theater for 36 years. He then turned the business over to his son, Michael, and family.

He earned a life membership in the Thompson Falls Koo Koo Sint Lions Club. He was an ardent hunter and fisherman in his younger days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1995. He leaves one son, Michael, and two grandchildren, Jenney and Jeffrey. He also leaves a brother, Adolph Jenson of Superior, and one sister, Ruby Wendt of Superior.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at the Community Church. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Coffelt-Bunch Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby W. Norris LIBBY Ruby W. Norris, 91, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at the Libby Care Center. She was born April 19, 1912, near Malta to Charles and Lydia Hansberry.

In 1924 in Libby, Ruby married Claude Norris. He preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Norris of Libby and Ellen Bloomgren of Missoula; sisters, Lottie Barton and Myrtle Clark of Libby; and numerous grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov.

29, at the Libby Christian Church, with a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the City of Libby Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Nelson Vial Funeral Home of Libby. Senate moves to keep Frank Church camps HAMILTON Harold Chaffee, 79, of Hamilton, passed away, Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, in Missoula at the Village Health Care Center.

Harold was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Spoonville, to the late Earl and Ruby Fritz Chaffee. Harold was a veteran and he worked for the Ford Motor Co. as a machinist, retiring after 32 years from the La Vonia Transmission Plant. He married Betty Thompson in 1952, and she preceded him in death.

He later married Alice Scott in 1963, and she also preceded him. Harold moved to the Bitterroot Valley in 1999 after visiting twice a year since 1991 with his good friend and companion, Wanda Miller of Hamilton, and the large circle of friends and her children who considered Harold their kith and kin. Harold was a member of the American Legion. He was a threetime past president of the Eagles Lodge and was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and keeping track of the stock market.

He is survived by his brothers, and sisters, Hazel Mroz of Muskegon, Charles and Alva Chaffee of Grand Rapids, Ethel Chaffee of Grand Heaven, Arthur and Nellie Chaffee of Delta, Erma and Jack Schear of Spring Lake, Edna Herron of Morris, Russell and Mona Chaffee of Springlake, Arlene and Paul Bour of Zeeland, Robert and Elizabeth Chaffee of Alma, Mary and Carol Novack of Florida and Delores and Bud Beverly of Grand Heaven, and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the DalyLeach Chapel with Pastor Muriel Gooder officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverview Cemetery with military rites presented by the Hamilton American Legion and the Marine Corps League, Bitterroot Detachment.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Guy K. McClung 1906-2003 VICTOR Guy K. McClung, 97, a former resident of Victor, died at the Riverside Health Care Center in Missoula on Tuesday, Nov.

25, 2003. He was born July 10, 1906, in Quanah, Texas, and was the son of James T. and Maude R. (Hare) McClung. He was a graduate of Victor High School.

On Aug. 12, 1925, Guy married Louise E. Schweitzer in Victor. They raised their sons, Sid and Dick, throughout the Northwest. Guy was employed in various occupations, including driving buses for Intermountain Bus Lines and driving trucks.

Guy and Louise returned to Victor in the 1950s. They remained in the area where Guy worked for Al Smith driving a milk truck between Salmon and Missoula until he retired. He enjoyed their farm near Big Creek. He loved to read, work crossword puzzles and fish. In their later life, Guy and Louise retired to the Missoula Manor.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; his sons, Sidney Guy and James Richard a granddaughter, Tami; a halfbrother; two half-sisters; and a stepbrother and a stepsister. Guy is survived by a halfbrother, Billy Joe McClung of Texas; a daughter, Jeannine McClung-Hackett (Prescott Hackett) of Victor; five grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and four greatgreat-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victor School Foundation, P.O. Box 1047, Victor, MT 59875; or to the Missoula Manor Endowment Fund, 909 W. Central, Missoula, MT 59801. Oscar Theodore Johnson KALISPELL Oscar Theodore Johnson, 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003.

He was born May 2, 1915, to Albert and Inga (Amundson) Johnson in Glendive. In 1938, Oscar married Signe Tollefson. They later divorced. Following a move to Kalispell, he married Dorothy Anderson. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; son, Douglas Johnson of Washington; and several stepchildren, including Nola Rice of Kalispell.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m.

Associated Press SALMON, Idaho As the Senate moved toward adjourning for the Thanksgiving holiday, it voted to reverse a federal court order for dismantling permanent hunting camps at three sites in central Idaho's Frank ChurchRiver of No Return Wilderness. Republican Sens. Larry Craig and Michael Crapo said Tuesday that the action, which still must be ratified by the House, reasserts the original intention of the 1980 law creating the wilderness area. The Missoula City-County Health Board has one open seat. The Historic Preservation Board has two open positions. One volunteer must be a resident of the Rattlesnake District. The other seat is for an at-large representative living anywhere in Missoula County. The Open Space Advisory Committee has four positions open.

"I am mystified as to why anyone would want to eliminate this historical use and Senator Church's intended protections." The legislation would overturn the decision issued three years ago by U.S. District Judge Sidney Thomas essentially directing the Forest Service to remove the structures in Smith Gulch, Arctic Creek and Stub Creek.

The Forest Service had set the end of 2005 for removal of the structures along the federally designated wild and scenic reach of the Salmon River that accommodates rafters, hunters, fishermen and other visitors. Wilderness Watch, a Montana environmental group that has challenged the existence of the lodges, asked the federal court a year ago to hold the government in contempt for failing to move more quickly to have the structures removed. The most elaborate of the camps is at Smith Gulch. It has four cabins, a 24-guest lodge and a storage building covering 3,500 square feet. The Stub Creek camp covers 1,500 square feet while Arctic Creek has 1,000 square feet of buildings.

The camps have operated since the 1930s under special use permits issued by the Forest Service, and land managers determined that they group to meet in Helena Larry Huss, a former Helena lawyer now living in Oregon and president of NRG Consulting, who will discuss the Oregon fiscal situation, which is similar to Montana's. An afternoon panel will discuss Montana's historic expenditures and revenues and how socioeconomic changes could affect state finances in the future. Speakers are Terry Johnson, principal legislative fiscal analyst, and Myles Watts, a professor of agricultural Office, City Hall, 435 Ryman St. They can also be downloaded from the Internet at www.ci.missoula.mt.us/ The deadline to apply is noon Dec. 15.

Missoulian Armored car firm to reward Samaritans KALISPELL An armored car company wants to reward two Kalispell residents who turned in nearly $15,000 a courier somehow dropped in a bank parking lot. Carmen Williams, 22, and Jake Jensen, 20, found the bank bag containing $14,622 outside the night depository of First Interstate Bank on Saturday. They turned the money over to Flathead County sheriff's deputy Mike Miller who returned it to WalMart. The cash was a deposit from Wal-Mart that was being transported by Security Armored Express, based in Helena.

"This was totally on SAE," said Bryan Sandrock, president of the security company. He said the firm is trying to contact Williams and Jensen "to provide them a reward for their honorable actions." He didn't specify how big a reward the two would receive. "We are delighted to be part of a community with such fine and upstanding citizens," NOTICES K.M.
