August Brides Choose Beautiful Weddings AUGUST Cupid is a very little fellow, as shown by the numerous weddings in Missoula this week. The season of the prettiest flowers is here, thus making the scene of the nuptials the more breath-taking in their loveliness. The more elaborate wedding, with the attendents including matron of honor, maid of honor, bridesmaids, groomsman, ushers, ringbearer and flower girl, is the choice of the August bride. The bride's gown this season is a lovely creation, worthy of the highest praise for its simple beauty.

Fashions have been somewhat like what grandmother wore on her wedding day. Pre-Nuptial Dinner. Mr. and Mrs. L.

F. Nelson were hosts at a dinner Saturday evening for Miss Dorothy Kitt and Bernard LaGrandeur, whose marriage was solemnized on Monday, at their home on North avenue, west, at 7:30 o'clock. Covers were laid for Miss Kitt, Mr. LaGrandeur, Mr. and Mrs.

Edward Dussault, and the hosts. Cards were enjoyed until a late hour. Mrs. Bennett Is Hostess. Mrs.

Edward E. Bennett was hostess at two charming buffet luncheons last week on Friday and Saturday, when she entertained at her home on Daly avenue. Yellow and white were the colors carried out in the clever table and flower decorations for the Friday party. Covers were laid for Mesdames Maurice Bedell of Pittsfield, Mass, guest of honor, L. R.

Sanford and Miss Ruth Smith as her guests. Green and white were used as effective table decorations. Mrs. Wilcox Entertains. A delicious 1:15 o'clock luncheon was the offering of Mrs.

George B. Wilcox Thursday afternoon, when she entertained at her sumhome up the Rattlesnake. Misses Anne Marie Forssen and Virginia Wilcox assisted Mrs. Wilson in serving. Seated with the hostess were Mesdames C.

Tacoma Miss Kitty Bramble of Tacoma, formerly of Philipsburg, arrived in Missoula Friday to visit with her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. R. B. Bramble, at their home on University avenue.

Miss Bramble just enjoyed a trip through Yellowstone park and the Teton country. Schiltz-Lemire. Of interest to Missoula friends is the wedding of Miss Marjorie Ann Schiltz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schiltz of Billings, to Hugh J.

Lemire, son of Mrs. J. A. Lemire of 410 South Fifth street, west. The wedding was performed at St.

Patrick's church in Billings at 9 o'clock Monday morning. Mrs. Lemire is a graduate of the Billings high school and St. Catherine's college in St. Paul.

Mr. Lemire is a graduate of Montana State University law school and is affiliated with Sigma Chi fraternity. He is at the present time employed by the solicitor's office of the Department of Agriculture in Denver, where the couple will make their home. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was given at the Billings club for twenty-eight guests. Mrs.

Paul Lemire, Misses Marjorie and Mary Lue Lemire of Missoula attended the wedding. Birthday Party. Billy Cogswell, whose fourth birthday anniversary was being celebrated on Tuesday, was honored at a party from 10:30 to 1 o'clock by his mother, Mrs. Andrew Cogswell, at their home on Beckwith avenue. The hours were pleasantly spent in playing and a delightful luncheon was served the young guests at 12 o'clock.

The happy affair was attended by Dickie and Sue Garlington, Sue and Judy Adams, Donnie and John Foss, Edmund Colby, Allan Morris, Allan Hesdorffer, Anne Woods, Sidney Martin, Marilyn Gunkel, "Rusty" Higbee and Billy Cogswell. Porters Entertain. Dr. and Mrs. Marvin Porter were hosts at a 7 o'clock dinner Wednesday evening at their home on Beverly avenue.

Among the invited guests were Mrs. E. R. Anderson and daughter, Eleanor, of Bozeman, and W. J.

Gallagher. MRS. FLOYD R. FREDRICKSON was Miss Mary Marcella McFarland, daughter of Mrs. Eric J.

Johnson, before her marriage, Wednesday. Marcella McFarland Becomes Bride of Floyd Fredrickson A wedding of exceptional grace and distinction was solemnized Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock, when Miss Mary Marcella McFarland, daughter of Mrs. Eric J. Johnson and Dr. A.

H. McFarland of Salmon, Idaho, became the bride of Floyd R. Fredrickson, son of Mrs. Albert Roux of Los Angeles. Father Frank Burns performed the nuptial high mass at St.

Anthony's church. A rich simplicity characterized the decorations of the church. Tali baskets of Picardy gladioli adorned the altar and two seven-branch candelabra were lighted, casting a pretty glow upon the scene. Love You and "Ave Maria" were selections rendered by Mrs. J.

N. Tuxbury, organist, and Mrs. J. H. Hauck, soloist.

The wedding march from "Lohengrin" and Mendelssohn's recessional were played. Mrs. Delma Hodson of Seattle and Miss Thelma Johnson of Los Angeles, sisters of the bride, were matron of honor and maid of honor, respectively. Little Patsy Joan Johnson, niece of the groom, was ring-bearer. The groom was attended by Jerome Fredrickson of Butte.

James P. Gleason, of Hamilton, James Gleason, of Butte and Dan Rice were ushers. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her grandfather, H. M. Woolard of Missoula, wore a gown of white lace over taffeta designed on the princess lines with a square neckline and puffed sleeves.

Her veil of tulle was of three-quarter length held in place by a lovely tiara of pearls. She carried a white prayer book with extended streamers of gardenias and ophelia roses. Her matron of honor chose a turquoise lace trimmed in coral over taffeta with a fitted bodice and full skirt. She wore a matching tulle cap and carried a bouquet of Talisman roses. Miss Johnson was gowned in a similarly designed dress only of pink lace and carried pink ophelia roses.

Patsy Joan, ringbearer, was daintily gowned in white taffeta and she wore a tiara of gardenias and carnations. She carried a lovely white satin pillow. The bride's mother, Mrs. Johnson, was charmingly attired in a violet sheer frock with black accessories. Mrs.

Roux chose a rose beige lace dress for her son's wedding. Both mothers wore corsages of gardenias. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held at the bride's home, 717 West Spruce street, for the bridal party and relatives. Mrs. Fredrickson was graduated from the Sacred Heart academy in Missoula and has been employed by the Missoula Mercantile company.

Mr. Frederickson attended Loyola high school, Gonzaga high school and Missoula high school. He is employed by Safeway. Mr. and Mrs.

Fredrickson left for an extended trip to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico their return will be at home to their friends at 814 Ivy street. Visits Mrs. Collar. Mrs. Florence Udseth of Everett, is the house guest of Mrs.

Elmer H. Collar at her home on McLeod avenue. MISS sister, Miss MARIBETH Dorothy KITT Kitt, was who maid of married honor for Bernard her LaGrandeur at a lovely ceremony this week. Nelle Porter and Paul Griffis Take Vows at Church Wedding Masses of pink gladioli, white phlox and blue delphinium intermingled with fern decorated the lovely altar before which Miss Nelle Porter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

A. T. Porter of Helena, became the bride of Paul Griffis of Billings at 8 o'clock last evening. Rev. H.

B. Ricketts of Kalispell performed ceremony in candle light at the Missoula Methodist Episcopal church in the presence of friends and relatives. Seventy-five out-oftown guests attended. "Until" Sanderson and Greig's "I The pre-nuptial on music, including Love Thee," was sung by Mrs. Robert Tiernan of Detroit, with Mrs.

A. T. Haas at the organ. Mendlesshon's "Wedding March" was used as the recessional. The entered the church on the arm her father to the strains bride, of the wedding march from "Lohengrin." She was attended by Mrs.

F. Gordon Reynolds, her sister, as matron of honor, and four bridesmaids, including Mrs. Gilbert Porter, Mrs. Marvin Porter, Miss Marguerite Hood and Miss Dorothy Langdorf of Helena. Geraldine Buck of Stevensville and Carolyn Kerlee of Hamilton, relatives the bride, were the little flower girls.

Clarence C. Shively of Billings was groomsman and the ushers were Gilbert Porter and Dr. M. B. Porter, brothers of the bride, Dr.

F. G. Reynolds and Paul Hurwitz of Billings. The bride's gown was of white net over satin, designed with a shirred bodice, square neckline and short lace jacket. She wore a pale pink cameo necklace, a gift from the groom.

Her finger length veil of tulle was held by a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a shower bouquet of ophelia roses and swainsonia. Mrs. Reynolds, the matron of honor, was charmingly gowned in a filmy rose lace fashioned with fitted bodice, short jacket, V-shaped neckline and puffed sleeves. She wore a picture hat of net adorned with dainty blue and pink flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of Briarcliff roses.

The bridesmaids wore similar hats and gowns of lace without the jacket. Mrs. Gilbert Porter and Miss Hood chose blue lace and Mrs. Marvin Porter and Miss Langdorf were dressed in pink lace. They carried colonial bouquets of roses and swainsonia, Daintily dressed in green net the flower girls carried miniature colonial bouquets of roses, swainsonia and gypsophelia.

Mrs. A. T. Porter chose hyacinth lace for her daughter's wedding while Mrs. L.

T. Griffis, mother of the groom, wore blue lace. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Delta Gamma house on University avenue where approximately two hundred relatives and friends called to extend their congratulations to the young couple. They were greeted at the door by two little girls, Annette Wylie and Jamie Brennan, who escorted them to the bride and groom. Mesdames Donovan Worden, C.

Hurt, F. G. Dratz, James Murphy, A. G. Roche and Miss Edith Dawes assisted in the living room.

Mrs. Richard Hale and Mrs. Francis Peterson presided at the table which was covered with a white embroidered cloth and centered with a silver bowl of white daisies and blue delhinium flanked by white tapers. A lovely three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom also graced the table. Assisting in the dining room were Mesdames Fred Lowe, Charles Keim, Mrs.

Herman C. Rice and Rev. Harvey T. Baty performed the ceremony before many friends and relatives. Preceding the ceremony Mrs.

Alvin R. Cook, pianist, and Mrs. C. M. Beardsley, violinist, rendered "Oh Promise Me" and "At Mrs.

Cook and Mrs. Beardsley played the wedding march from "Lohengrin" and the Mendelssohn wedding march as the recessional. Mrs. T. L.

Blackburn, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and the bridesmaids were Misses Helen Dimmick and Hazel Hayden. Cecil Beattie attended the groom and Curtis Cook and Frank Bryan were ushers. Flowers girls were Jo Ann Blackburn and Nancy Wise. The bride was attractively gowned in white chiffon with a fingertip tulle veil fashioned by' a coronet of flowers. She carried a bouquet of Mitzi roses.

Miss Maribeth Kitt. sister of the bride was maid of honor and Edward Dussault attended the groom. and "I Love You Truly" were sung by Miss Ruth Harris, accompanied Mrs. Max Wilcomb, before and after the ceremony. The wedding march from "Lohengrin" and the recessional of Mendelssohn were rendered.

The bride was lovely in a gown of mousseline de soi fashioned with a double of pearl buttons down to the waist, a round neckline and full puffed sleeves. The bouffant skirt fell in folds to the floor. Her veil was fashioned in a halo effect, with a coronet of pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a lovely bridal bouquet of white orchids, gardenias and stephanotis. Her bridesmaid was becomingly gowned in a long creation of silk net over taffeta with skirt and bolero jacket embroidered and appliqued with silk.

She wore a lovely picture hate of transparent braid and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and ferns. Mrs. Kitt was charmingly gowned in acqua marine lace and wore a corsage of roses. Following the nuptial rites a reception was held at the bride's home on Daly avenue when approximately a hundred people called to congratulate the bride and groom. Mrs.

Raymond Ricketts of Great Falls, sister of the bride, presided at the service table, which was prettily appointed and centered with a lovely bouquet of pink roses and white sweet peas. Mrs. Hilman Lyng of Spokane cut the handsome wedding cake. Assisting in the dining room were Misses Peggy Kitt, Betty Lou Lyng, Maribeth Kitt and Barbara Lou Kitt. Mrs.

LaGrandeur is a graduate of Missoula high school and attended Montana State University. She is a member of Delta Gamma, social sorority. Mr. LaGrandeur attended the Missoula schools and Montana State University. He is employed by the Garden City Floral company.

Following a trip to Spokane, Seattle and Vancouver, Mr. and Mrs. LaGrandeur will be at home to their friends at the Thornton apartments. At Happy Bungalow. Among the social affairs of the week was a delightful luncheon at 1:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon when Mrs.

E. M. Ross of San Diego entertained guests at the Happy Bungalow. Bridge provided later diversion. Delphinium and roses formed the centerpiece on the prettily appointed table, with covers for Mesdames G.

Kitt, DOROTHY KITT, the bride daughter of of Bernard Mr. and LaGran- Mrs. became deur at a wedding ceremony Monday noon. Miss McLeod Is Honored At Luncheon Mrs. George Briggs contributed lovely 1 o'clock luncheon to the social events of the week when she complimented Miss Olive McLeod, a bride-elect, Wednesday afternoon at the Montmartre.

An artistic arrangement of pink roses and white snapdragons and lilies of the valley centered the luncheon table where places were marked for Mesdames Walter McLeod, D. D. Richards, E. H. Boos, E.

Miss Marjorie Mitchell of Seattle became the bride of William D. Royce of Missoula at a simple ceremony at the Immanuel Lutheran church at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Rev. N. E.

Bergstrom performed the ceremony before a few relatives of the couple. The couple was attended by J. C. Mitchell, father of the bride, and Mrs. Hazel Olson of Seattle.

Mrs. Mitchell, mother of the bride, attended the wedding. Mrs. Royce attended Seattle schools and is a graduate nurse of the Columbus hospital in Seattle. Mr.

Royce attended the Seattle schools and is the golf professional at the Missoula Country club. Mr. and Mrs. Royce will reside at the Country club. A wedding breakfast was given for the bridal party at the Coffee Parlor following the ceremony, Mrs.

Kohn Is Hostess. Card club members were guests at a bridge luncheon at which Mrs. Irvin Kohn was hostess at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at her home on Gerald avenue. Those who enjoyed Mrs. Kohn's hospitality included Mesdames R.

After the lincheon hour the guests adjourned to Mrs. Paddock's home on South Fourth street, west, for contract bridge. A lovely centerpiece of roses, delphinium and phlox graced the pretty luncheon table where places were marked for Mesdames J. W. Gerard of Washington, D.

Florence Udseth of Everett, Nels Knudson of Ritzville, E. H. Collar, A. R. Puyear, Riley Eldridge, Edward Blaeser and the hostesses.

Favors were presented to Mrs. Collar and Mrs. Eldridge. Announcement. Announcement has been made of the engagement of Miss Anna Belle Hartwig of Dillon to Paul Chumrau of Anaconda.

The wedding date is set for August 28. Miss Hartwig has been attending Montana State University and is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Mr. Chumrau is a graduate of the University and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, He has taken a position as coach at the Cut Bank high school. Miscellaneous Shower.

Mrs. Dan Rice, 516 Hickory street, hostess at a charming miscellaneous shower for Miss Marcella McFarland, whose wedding was an event of the week, last Thursday evening at 8 o'clock. Court whist was the evening diversion and a delicious collation was served the guests. Yellow and blue were the pretty color scheme used by the hostess. Pleasant hospitality was extendto Mesdames Dena Wing.
