8, 1995, ended a courageous yearlong struggle with cancer. She we was surrounded by her family at her home. Marilyn was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Tekamah, to Zalmon and Agnes Ellis, the second of four sisters. Though small in stature, she was a mighty mite.

Music was one of her many talents Marilyn played trumpet in the Tekamah High School band. She also studied piano and organ with Karl Tunberg of RKO Studios in Omaha, Neb. As a member of the Sweet Adelines in Santa Rosa, she sang in a championship quartet, The Fiddly Four. In 1958, she married Kenneth O. Knight in 1958.

They had four sons, Ted, twins Kenneth and Kayo, and Kirk. The couple later divorced and Marilyn raised her sons in Spokane and Montana. Her lifetime career was as a printer. Her newspaper experience was with the Star Herald in Scottsbluff, Press Democrat in Santa Rosa, Calif; Sebastopol Times in Sebastopol, Ukiah Journal in Ukiah, Lakeport Bee in Lakeport, and the Spokesman Review in Spokane. When Marilyn applied for employment at the University of Montana Journalism Department, she typed 120 words per minute with no errors.

She was hired on the spot! During her time at the university, Marilyn operated a Linotype machine; she was one of the last operators in the country. She retired from the University of Montana print shop in 1990 and when she retired, the university also retired her Linotype machine as an antique museum piece. Marilyn leaves a close, loving family and many friends. Dearest among those is her best friend and companion of 18 years, Delbert Markle. Together they were avid UM sports fans, active in the Moose Lodge and enjoyed camping and snow skiing with her grandsons.

Marilyn loved all of her grandchildren deeply. Marilyn is survived by her mother, Agnes Ellis, Santa Rosa, her sisters, Marcella Lotz, Ruidoso, N.M.; Rosemary White, Smithville, and Anne Willis, Santa Rosa, her sons and their families, Ted, Connie and Skyler, all of Boyes Hot Springs, Kammie and Kaleb, Windsor, Kenny, Theresa, Doug and David, all of Frenchtown; and Kirk, Debi and Andrew of Missoula. She was preceded in death by her father, Zal Ellis, and her son, Kayo. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Marshall Ski School, the UM Athletic Foundation, Hospice of Missoula, or the American Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place.

Main 1st Ave. E.N. MISSOULA Gladys Marie Gray, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away of natural causes Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, at her home. She was born on Sept.

30, 1907, in Topeka, Kansas to Gertrude and Oscar Mallous. On Aug. 11, 1923, she married Roy Gray Sr. The couple moved to Missoula in 1931, where they raised their two sons, Walter Gordon Gray (deceased) and Roy Gray Jr. In 1938, both Gladys and Roy became associated with Jehovah's Witnesses and were major contributors to the growth of the congregations in Missoula.

Gladys is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy Gray Jr. and Mary Ann Gray; a sister, Bessy Mc Vicker; her grandchildren, Walter Gray, Brenda Williams, Becky Gray, Anthony Gray and Timothy Gray, along with their spouses; and 13 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a brother and two sisters. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Squire Simmons and Carr Funeral Home.

A memorial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1115 Reserve St. with Bill Main officiating. A short graveside service will follow at Missoula Cemetery. Edna May Harrington Gladys M.

Gray MISSOULA Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edna May Harrington, 76, of Missoula went to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Royal Manor Nursing Facility. She was born May 27, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Edna and Henry Werner. She traveled with her daughter and husband while he served in the U.S. Navy Seabee's, living in Rhode Island, California, Nevada, Utah and then Montana.

Edna loved playing bingo, watching TV, knitting and crocheting. Edna is survived by two sons, Harold Harrington, West Warwick, R.I., and Robert Harrington and his wife, Nancy, of Southbridge, a daughter, Patricia Saltus and her husband, John, Trout Creek; five grandchildren, Lt. Richard Saltus, Colorado Springs, Michael Saltus, Missoula; Cameron Saltus and his wife, Angie, Missoula; Robert Harrington and Marina Harrington, both in Massachusets; and two greatgrandchildren, Thomas and Emily Saltus, both of Hillman, Mich. Edna is preceded in death by her brothers and a sister, Charles, John, Henry and Christina. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Trout Creek, and will be announced by Squire Simmons Carr Funeral Home.

Clarin P. Hatten KALISPELL Clarin Patricia Hatten, 61, of Kalispell died at her home on Friday, Dec. 8. She was preceded in death by her twin sister in infancy, her parents and a brother. Survivors include her husband, Warren "Bud" Hatten, Kalispell; a daughter, Sherry Willis, Carmichael, a son, Marc Hatten, Kalispell; three grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Woodmansee, Longmont, Colo.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the Johnson Mortuary. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary chapel with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating.

Burial will be at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. 8, at the North Valley Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 20, 1905, in Walnut, to August and Bettie Anderson Peterson. She was a graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. Until her marriage, she worked as a medical technician and bacteriology assistant at the University of Chicago Billings Hospital.

On June 5, 1937, she married Harold Kelley in Chicago. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker. The couple lived in Chicago and Elmhurst, until 1970 when they moved to Stevensville. In 1978, they moved to Scottsdale, they returned to Stevensville in 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 28, 1991, and a brother, Allen Peterson.

Survivors include a son, Alan Kelley, Stevensville; two daughters, Nancy Burke, Ketchum, Idaho, and Judith Kelley, Palantine, a brother, Glen F. Peterson, Walnut, 11 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz. Local arrangements are by the Whitesitt Funeral Home.

Mildred C. Scott KALISPELL Mildred Cleo Scott, 77, of Kalispell died Thursday, Dec. 7, at her home. Three brothers preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Artie, at the family home; three sons, Floyd and Samuel Scott, both of Kalispell, and Phillip Scott, Somers; three daughters, Florence Wambeke, Lovell, Ida Lacquement, Terry; and Alice Dschaak, Glendive; three sisters, Alice Ruff, Billings; Ollie Sharbono, Sidney; and Lena Bergseth, Bath, S.D.; four brothers, Monroe Campbell, Los Angeles; Wayne Campbell, Perris, George Campbell in Utah; and Wilburn Campbell, Worland, 24 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Mortuary. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary chapel with the Rev. Jack Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Caroline L. Holland MISSOULA Caroline L. Holland, 49, of Missoula went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 7.

She died of cancer at St. Patrick Hospital. She was born April 6, 1946, in St. Louis to Floyd and Winnie Thorne Partney. She was educated in Florence and Missoula.

On Sept. 21, 1962, she married Kenneth Van Engen in Florence. The couple later divorced and on April 8, 1983, she married Bobbie Joe Holland in Missoula. The couple lived in Missoula and she worked as a Shaklee dealer for over 20 years. Caroline enjoyed hunting, fishing, homemaking, picking huckleberries, bead work, pencil drawings and learning about Indian cultures.

She was also a natural herbist. Her father, Floyd Partney, preceded her in death in 1993. Survivors include her husband, Bobbie Joe, Missoula; two sons, Robert Van Engen, Salem, and James Van Engen, St. Ignatius; a stepson, Bob Holland, Kalispell; three daughters, Debra Hirst and Miva Harrall, both of Stevensville, and Katherine Van Engen, Dalhart, Texas; two stepdaughters, Debra Wood, Missoula, and Kim Keast, Seattle; her mother, Winnie Partney, Stevensville; two brothers-in-law, Louis and Tom Partney, both of Stevensville; a sister, Patsy Roper, Siletz, 11 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m.

Monday at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jim Andrusky officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery.

Austyn J. Lehnen MISSOULA Austyn James Lehnen, 4-month-old son of Holly and Matt Lehnen, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, from Sudden Infant Death Syndrom. He was born July 31, 1995, in Missoula. Austyn's family includes his parents and a sister, Victoria Ashley Lehnen, all at the family home in Victor; his maternal grandparents, Sandy and Vic Acord, Stevensville; and maternal great-grandparents, Marsha and Leonard Rath, Stevensville; paternal grandparents, Yalmar and Sandy Lehnen, Bonner; paternal great-grandmother, Alma J.

Lehnen, Missoula; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Squire Simmons Carr Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

7, at the North Valley Health Care Center. She was born July 17, 1913, in Flandreau, S.D., one of eight children. She was the daughter of Joseph C. and Mary O'Neil Downs. At the age of 4, her family moved to an eastern Montana homestead where she grew She attended grade school in up.

Lindsey. She worked her way through high school, graduating from Glendive High School. She later worked her way through college, graduating from Montana State University in 1939 with a degree i in home economics. Margaret K. Nooney RENO, Nev.

Margaret, age 92, was born in Abbotsford, to John and Kate Fahnlander on Jan. 30, 1903. She passed away Monday, Dec. 5, in Reno. She attended parochial schools as a young person, including Sacred Heart Academy.

She was a strong supporter their BASH benefits and of LoyolaSacred Heart High School. Margaret worked as a telephone company operator and for Sacred Heart Hospital as a switchboard operator. She was an active member of the Catholic church and worked Margaret Nooney Margaret Nooney with the Altar Society for many years. Her artistic talents were visible in both St. Anthony Church and St.

Frances Church at Christmas time, as she was responsible for the decorations and had also catered weddings for many years. Margaret was a homemaker. Her husband, William, preceded her in death in 1967, as well as two small children, William and Carol, and her brothers Ray and Harry Fahnlander. Survivors include two sons, William and James, both of Missoula, and their wives, Wanda and Teddie; three daughters, Geraldine Miles and her husband Bobby, Missoula; Sister Patricia Ann Nooney, BVM, Skokie, and Donna Folden husband, Wayne, Reno; and a sister, Katherine Flynn of Missoula. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren.

A vigil is planned for 7:00 p.m. Monday at Garden City Mortuary, in Missoula. A Mass and be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church.

Lunch will be provided by the St. Anthony Altar Society immediately following burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Loyola-Sacred Heart, 300 Edith, Missoula, 59806. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory. Janice L.

Sheridan POLSON Janice Lee Sheridan, 48, of Polson died at her home on Friday, Dec. 8, from ovarian cancer that was diagnosed in March 1994. Survivors include six children, Michael Joseph Ogdon, Seattle; DebiJo Burnett, Potlatch, Idaho; Cindy Lee Tate, Veneta, Ronda Lynn Blomquist, Potlatch; Crystal Dawn Blomquist, Caldwell, Idaho; and Scott Greeson, Polson; five grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Tahnee, Brooke and Hope; a brother, Dick Saltmarsh, Coarnet Falls, a sister, Gail Newcomb, Jamestown, and her parents, Lon and Donna Stark, Sequim, Wash. Memorial services will be held at noon Wednesday at the Polson Missionary Alliance Church with the Rev. Bill Putnam officiating.

Cremation and arrangements are by Mosley-Shrider Funeral Home. She taught school in Plains and later became the Home Demonstration Agent of Richland County. She was promoted to Assistant State Home Demonstration Agent Leader, a job she held until she married Earl Bjork on May 30, 1950, in Sidney. The couple moved to the Bitterroot Valley where they purchased an irrigated ranch. She taught at Stevensville High School until her retirement in 1969.

In 1971, she and Earl moved to Stevensville. She was a member of the Beulah Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She entered the North Valley Health Care Center in September 1995. Survivors include her husband, Earl, Stevensville; a stepdaughter, Earlyn Collishaw, Monte Sereno, and a step-son, Marshall Bjork, Polson; eight step-grandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 2 p.m.

Tuesday at the Whitesitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Hermes officiating. Ritualistic services, conducted by the Beulah Chapter of OES, will follow. DEATH NOTICES William T. Fisher HAMILTON William T.
