a a a Daily Missoulian, Thursday, May 24, 1956 Flathead Schools Have Graduation Rites exer: cises for the eighth graders of Flathead county rural schools was Wednesday evening at the Flathead County High School Auditorium. The diplomas were presented by Mrs. J. C. Burdick, representing the rural schools.

The brief talk of the evening was by Virgil Cork, president of the Future Teachers, at FCHS, and himself eighth grade graduate here. His talk was "Five Qualities in an Ideal Student." Miss Lulu Barnard, county, superintendent of schools presided at the ceremonies, Presentation of book awards was by Grace E. Hansen. Mrs. John Schwartz presented the DAR award to Mary Lou Collins of the Canyon View School.

The class was presented for diplomas by Jane Woodworth, representing the rural teachers. the program of the evening the processional and recessional were by Grace Powell. The Rev. Frank B. Hillis gave the invocation and benediction.

The program opened with singing "Star Spangled Banner," and the flagS salute led Leona M. Hochstetler of the Creston School and J. Michael Horn of the Kuhns School. The Birth Grove School eighth graders a choral reading. Marlene Martzell, teacher at Fairview School gave a solo.

A duet was by Marjorie Rabidue and LaDonna Frerich. Also musical numbers were offered by eighth grade students. Gladys Bryson, Thompson River School: Larry Brosten, Hodgson School: the Olney Class: James Dennison, Kila School: Swan River Quartett, Judith Brimmer, Bald Rock School and Alice Jane Woodworth, Lakeside School. Mrs. Thelma Johnson presented the United Nations pilgrimage award certificate to Marcella Skelton.

Mrs. Johnson, is local chairman of this project which is sponsored by the 100F and Rebekah Lodges. Miss Gloria Bugli, commercial instructor, presented the year book awards to Shirley Haas, ediVirginia Schneider, business manager; and Mary Ann Miles, Sandra Talbott, Shirley Schierding, Rosemary Warnken, Frances Warnken, Dede de Wit, Lynn Douglas and Carol Tower, staff members. McLaughlin, presented the award, for the best allaround athlete, as elected by the boys, to Blaine (Shorty) Bennett. Bennett also received the Olson memorial award, with Drenth making the presentation.

Athletic letter awards were presented by Coach McLaughlin to Sandy Guttu, captain, football and basketball, and honorary lyre in band; Hugh Corn, football, basketball and band; Yngve Falk, basketball; and Victor Fisher, senior manager. Junior class letter awards to Bennett in football, basketball, baseball, and band; Pomajevich, football, basketball, baseball, and band: Gary Spaberg, football, basketball and track; Delbert Heimbigner, football and basketball; Eugene Byers, football and basketball; Eddie Tholts, football baseball. Sophomore class letter awards -Bobby Prater, football and basketball; Jimmy Gullette, football and baseball; and Richard Dunn, baseball. Miss Nichols received the award for the outstanding musician of the year. Cheerleader awards went to Sandra Howell, Marcell Skelton, Frances Warnken and Maryann Miles with Melton making the presentations. George R. Howell, president of the Lions Club, presented the medals awarded at the annual spelling bee to: Adult division, Mrs. Ruth Zigler, gold; Mrs.

Hartman, silver; and Mrs. Laurence Forseth bronze; high school division, Darlene Davis gold; Dixie Gee silver, and Ave bronze; and for the grade school division to David Tamietti, gold; Francene Peters, silver and Linda Hartman, bronze. T. H. Brekke presented special music trophy which must be earned annually by the local band making a superior rating at the music festival in Missoula.

David Murphy accepted the trophy on behalf of the band. Melton was the donnor of the trophy. Blaine Bennett and Sandy Guttu, acting as representatives of the lettermen presented a gift to Coach McLaughlin. The girls sextette brought the program to a close with the sing of "Way Down in Egypt Land." Valona Lewis, Noella Nichols, Carol Tower, Marcella Skelton, Jean Mancini and Dede de Wit are members of the Sextette. Baccalaureate exercises were in the gymnasium Sunday evening, with the Rev.

Fr. E. D. O'Sullivan of Frenchtown delivering the address. The processional and recessional were by the high school band under the direction of Jene Melton.

The girls sextette sang two selections. resiof Kalispell more than 60 years and connected with the lumber business during his residence here, died at a local hospital late Tuesday, He was born Osborn, Feb. 7, 1877, where he spent his youth. He later at Richville, and in 1895 came to Kalispell. He married Emma E. Engman here Dec.

25, 1900. He was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Kalispell Kiwanis Club and was active in golfing and bowl- Mr. O'Neil had expected to leave Kalispell Sunday for Phila-; delphia to attend the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church which was to commemorlate the 250th anniversary of Presbyterianism in America. However, he became ill last week and entered a local hospital. survived by his widow, Emma, Kalispell; a daughter, Mrs.

Wilda May Wilson; two sons, DeWitt and Carl all of Kalispell, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Charles I. O'Neil, Pomona, and nieces and nephews. body is at the Johnson Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m.

Friday by the Rev. Frank B. Hillis. Burial will be in the family plot in Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Henry H.

Kind KALISPELL Funeral services for Henry H. Kind will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Waggener Campbell Chapel with the Rev. Allen Schildheiss officiating. Burial will be in the family section of Conrad Memoral Cemetery.

Mr. Kind, 72, who resided here until moving to Power in 1952 where he was engaged in ranching, died near Power Sunday as a result of an automobile accident. Mrs. Mary Lozeau ST. IGNATIUS Requiem high mass will be celebrated for Mrs.

Mary Louise Lozeau, 84, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church at ,9 a.m., Friday, Rosary will be recited at the Fearon Chapel Thursday evening at 8. Burial in the Lozeau Cemetery at Moiese. Mrs. Lozeau had resided at Dixon since 1942 and had lived over 70 years in Montana.

She passed away at Dixon early Tuesday morning after a lingering illness. Mrs. Alice Marquardt KALISPELL Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Marie Marquardt will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Waggener Campbell Chapel with the Rev.

Frank B. Hillis officiating. Burial will be in Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Marquardt, wife of William J.

Phillips, retired maintenance man at Flathead County High School, died Sunday. Mrs. Hilda Lenoch KALISPELL Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Lenoch were conducted Tuesday at the Waggener Campbell Chapel with the Rev. Gordon Patterson officiating.

Burial was in Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Desrosiers, J. 0. Lahre, Sam Sather, J. B.

Drew, Wilbur O. Mellem and Joe Beltramini, She was born July 14, 1878 in Michigan and came to Kalispell in 1907 and in the fall of 1924 married Walter Lenoch. They made their home for a time at St. Maries, Idaho, and in 1928 returned to Kalispell. Since 1942 they resided at Somers.

She died here Saturday at the age of 77. She is survived by her widower. Walter, Somers, two daughters, two brothers, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Arthur Ottenbacher KALISPELL Funeral services for Arthur Ottenbacher were conducted Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Allen Schuldheiss officiating.

Burial was in Glacier Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were George F. Anderson, Lloyd M. Whitacre, Werner Franz, 'Reuben Fuhrer, Paul P. Orr and Lafe Morris.

He was born April 4, 1911. at Harriet, S. and came here about 10 years ago. Here he was engaged in the well drilling business. He is survived by his widow, Pauline, Kalispell, a son, daughter.
