Daily Missoulian, Wednesday, March 14, 1956. Slush Clears From Roads Western Montana's 'highways spent a slushy, slippery day Tues; day but by nightfall had cleared except for the passes. A five-inch Monday night snowfall turned to slush during day, then disappeared during the sunny day. Chains are required on Lookout Pass, season total now is 441 of snow whiches with 211 inches on the ground at Lookout station. Heavy units and cars pulling trailers needed chains on Lost Trail Pass south of Motorists were making it over Evaro Hill northwest of here and MacDonald Pass east of here without chains.
